Heavenly Socks Yarns
|The shop will be closed for a short vacation on Monday, March 31, through Thursday, April 3. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
When we reopen on Friday, April 4, all sock yarn and sock-pattern books will be on sale at 20% off. We have many new sock yarns including Berroco Sox (at $11.95 suggested retail for a hundred-gram skein, shown below courtesy of Berroco's Web site) and Schaefer Yarn's Heather, hand-dyed merino/silk/nylon sock yarn.
|For all you felting fans: While searching for a pattern myself, I came upon this great Web site for free felting patterns.
Jogless color changes: If you ever wondered how to make stripes without a "jog" where the yarn changes color, this blog is very informative.
A Photography Show
Photographer Richard Benson once said that "funny pictures aren't quite serious," and with this in mind, Aarhus Gallery invites the public to join them for an opening reception on Friday, April 4, from 5-8 pm, as they explore the humorous side of photography. The show will run from April 3-27, and coincides with and is inspired by the Belfast Comic Arts Laugh Festival, April 9-13, 2008.
|With the long winter, high heating costs and gas prices, and a recession, we all could use a little levity. Be it odd, ironic, strange, wry or cute, views of a not-so-serious world can help cure the blues. Funny Lookin' artists include Derek DeJoy, Sally Dennison, Betsy Feeley, Greg Morley, Alex Morrow, Georges Nashan, Eben Ostby, Jan Rosenbaum and Mat Thorne, as well as Aarhus artists Kevin Johnson, Mark Kelly, Annadeene Konesni, Richard Mann, Wesley Reddick and Willy Reddick.
Aarhus Gallery is located at 50 Main Street, Belfast, and is open year round. Winter hours are Thursday-Sunday, noon-6, by chance or by appointment. More information can be found at (207) 338-0001, or at the Aarhus Gallery Web site.
